Principal Points

Hello Patch ES Families,
What a fabulous week at Patch Elementary School! Our Color Run on Friday was a highlight, with students running through the corral and around the school building, smiling, laughing, and enjoying every colorful moment. A huge thank you to our teachers, families, and volunteers who helped make the day so special. This comes right on the heels of our first-ever Block Party with Patch Middle School — an incredible event that brought both school communities together. We are so grateful to both PTAs for organizing such a fun and memorable evening.

Our third, fourth, and fifth grade students have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming summative assessments, and we are proud of the effort they’ve been putting in. Fourth and fifth grade students will begin testing Monday through Thursday next week, followed by a student holiday on Friday for teacher training. Families, please help set students up for success with plenty of rest and a good breakfast each day. The following week, third grade testing will take place May 4–7. On Monday, May 4, we’ll celebrate “May the 4th Be With You” with a fun Spirit Day — students are welcome to dress as their favorite Star Wars characters (no full-face masks, blasters, or lightsabers, please).

We’re also excited for A Night of the Arts on Thursday, May 8. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. for families to enjoy a schoolwide art show curated by Ms. Johnson-Archie, featuring student artwork displayed throughout the hallways. Our after-school choir will take the stage at 4:00 p.m. for Big Dreams: A Musical Review, with the performance running until 4:30 p.m. Families are welcome to continue exploring the art exhibit until 5:30 p.m. It’s shaping up to be a wonderful evening celebrating our students’ creativity.

As the weather continues to warm up, please ensure students are dressed appropriately for outdoor conditions. We have a few more events left in the school year, including promotion ceremonies, end-of-year celebrations, award ceremonies, and of course, our annual Field Day event. Stay tuned — more information is to come. Have a wonderful weekend!

In service,
Dr. Quinland and Mr. Pieper
