Principal Points

Hello Patch ES Families,
This week we wrapped up the Month of the Military Child, and what a meaningful celebration it was! We are so proud of and grateful for our military-connected students and the strength, resilience, and heart they bring to our school every day. A big thank you goes out to our community partners, parents, staff, PTA members, and students for helping make the month so special—our hallways were filled with purple, creativity, and dandelions as we honored our amazing military families.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming our Director of Student Excellence, Dr. Brahaney, to Patch Elementary. During her visit, we were excited to showcase our beautiful campus, dedicated and talented teachers, and our incredible Star Stallion Students. She was able to see firsthand the strong sense of community, the engaging learning happening in classrooms, and the pride our students take in their work and behavior. It was a wonderful opportunity to highlight all the great things happening here at Patch!

Our 4th and 5th grade students completed their summative assessments this week, and we could not be more proud of their focus, determination, and perseverance. They worked hard to show what they know, used their strategies, and gave their best effort each day. Their commitment to learning has truly been impressive, and we are celebrating their growth and resilience as they finish this important milestone.

Next week kicks off Teacher Appreciation Week! To help families join in the celebration, the PTA sent home information with students on how they can show appreciation for their teachers throughout the week. We encourage students and families to take part in these simple but meaningful ways to say thank you and help make our staff feel extra special.

Third grade students will begin testing on Monday, May 4. They have spent time reviewing, practicing, and preparing, and we know they are ready to shine. Families, your support makes a huge difference—please help set students up for success by ensuring they get plenty of rest, enjoy a healthy breakfast each morning, and arrive to school on time and ready to do their best.

On Monday, May 4, we’ll also celebrate “May the 4th Be With You” with a fun Spirit Day! Students are invited to dress as their favorite Star Wars characters (please no full-face masks, blasters, or lightsabers).

We’re also looking forward to A Night of Music and Art on Thursday, May 8! Doors open at 3:30 p.m. for families to enjoy a school-wide art show featuring student artwork displayed throughout the hallways. Ms. Roos’ after-school choir will take the stage at 4:00 p.m. for Big Dreams: A Musical Review, with the performance running until 4:30 p.m. Families are then welcome to continue exploring the art exhibit until 5:30 p.m. This special evening is a celebration of student creativity, imagination, and expression, highlighting the many ways our students share their talents and ideas through the arts.

As the weather continues to warm up, please make sure students are dressed appropriately for outdoor activities and changing conditions. We still have many exciting events ahead, including promotion ceremonies, end-of-year celebrations, award ceremonies, and our annual Field Day. Stay tuned for more details as we close out a fantastic school year together.

Have a wonderful weekend!

In service,
Dr. Quinland and Mr. Pieper
