Mark-Alexander Pieper
Biography
Mark Pieper has been an educator with the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) since 2014, beginning his teaching career at Yokota Middle School and later transitioning to Patch Middle School. Over the years, he has taught a variety of subjects, including English Language Arts, Social Studies, Creative Writing, Journalism, Study Skills, and AVID, working with students across all grade levels.
Mr. Pieper also has extensive experience in Continuous School Improvement (CSI), having served as the CSI/BLT chair at Patch Middle School and as the chair of the College & Career Ready Standards Committee at Yokota Middle School. In these roles, he was instrumental in introducing staff to key educational shifts and helping them adapt their teaching practices.

Before becoming a full-time teacher with DoDEA, Mr. Pieper coached the Guam High School Panthers girls' basketball team and coordinated both the Boys’ and Girls’ DoDEA Far East Basketball tournaments. He has also been a dedicated youth basketball and volleyball coach. Additionally, he brings management experience from his time as a planner with LVMH DFS and as an editor with USA Today Group and the U.S. Air Force’s 374th Force Support Squadron.

Since 2018, Mr. Pieper has lived in Germany with his wife and two children, continuing his commitment to education and to supporting the growth of students both in and out of the classroom.
