Principal Points

Hello Patch ES Families!

Wow! It is hard to believe that today is the last day of the month. This week was another event filled week. There are some interesting units in the classrooms. Our third grade is finishing one of their projects on designing an APP. Our fourth and fifth grades have been working closely with Ms. Merrill on the use of technology. We also were honored to be able to host different Assistant Principals from around the DoDEA East district. During their visit they shared glows in student learning.

As we approach the evening, we are excited to attend the Glow Dance! This will be the first one I will attend here at Patch, and I have heard some amazing things. Thank you to Mr. Beaman for DJing this event. If you are available, please come by!

In Service,

Dr. Quinland and Mr. Pieper

Nurse Notes Header

We have had a rough couple of weeks with illnesses. Currently we have Strep, Flu, bronchitis, and a stomach virus. There are other viruses that are causing fatigue, dizziness, sore throat, and a bad cough. If your child has any of these symptoms, please have them stay at home. Per DODEA guidelines if a student has any cold or flu-like symptoms, they should stay home. Giving them medication before coming to school will not help other students stay healthy.

Medications should also stay home unless they have come through the nurse's office with a doctor's note. Several students have come to class with medication in their pockets or bookbags. Medicine and cough drops are not allowed in school unless they are being given by their parents in front of the nurse or admin. It is not safe for kids to carry medication in their backpacks.

Our goal is to keep the community safe and healthy. Please reach out to me if you have any questions at Bethzaida.matos@dodea.edu. We hope you have a great and safe weekend.

Best Regards,

Nurse Bethzy

Slice of Social Studies: Southeast Pizza Box Project

Fourth Grade Completed an extensive research project combining ELA and Social Studies Standards. Using the Inquiry Project from TCi, our Social Studies curriculum, students did an in-depth research project over time to investigate life in one of the 14 southeast states. They used a research graphic organizer to collect information and then used the RACER response strategy transfer their knowledge in a creative way. They did an excellent job of using their research to think outside the "box"!

The school library is buzzing with excitement as students dive into the world of books and technology.

Our students are making the most of their Chromebooks by exploring the library's vast collection of books. With just a few clicks, they can search for titles that spark their interest, whether it's a thrilling adventure, a magical fantasy, or a fascinating non-fiction book. It's wonderful to see our young readers so engaged and eager to discover new stories!

A friendly reminder to all our families: if your children have any overdue books, please return them as soon as possible. Returning books on time helps ensure that everyone has a chance to enjoy our library's resources. Plus, it keeps our shelves stocked and ready for the next curious reader!

Our dedicated librarian, Mr. Andrasko, works tirelessly to make the library a fun and educational space for everyone. From reading engaging stories aloud to helping students find the perfect book, Mr. Andrasko is always there help.

Keep reading, exploring, and enjoying all the wonderful resources our library has to offer!
