Dear Patch Elementary Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well! April has been a wonderful month at our school, filled with exciting events and celebrations. We are still celebrating the Month of the Military Child, honoring the incredible resilience and contributions of our military families.
Next week, we are thrilled to invite families to join us for Lunch with a Loved One. This special event allows you to visit during lunch and share a meal with your child. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
Additionally, mark your calendars for the PTA-sponsored Family Arts Night on April 24. This evening promises to be filled with creativity and fun, showcasing the talents of our students and providing an opportunity for families to engage in various activities together.
We also want to highlight the success of our Color Run this week. It was an amazing event, filled with vibrant colors and enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and families. Thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable experience!
As we move forward, please note that our third graders will begin their testing next week, from April 21-25. We kindly remind students to bring headphones if possible, as our supply is limited. Your cooperation in ensuring your child is prepared will greatly help us during this important time.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
In Service,
Dr. Quinland and Mr. Pieper

🌎 We Are Multilingual Learners! 🌎
This month, we are celebrating Multilingual Learner Month, and that means we get to celebrate us—students who speak, read, or understand more than one language!
Some of us speak a different language at home with our families, and some of us are learning English at school while still using our first language. That means we are multilingual, and that’s something really special. We can switch between languages, help others understand different cultures, and share amazing stories, songs, and traditions from all over the world.
Being a multilingual learner can be challenging sometimes, but it’s also a superpower! It makes our brains stronger, our friendships deeper, and our school a more exciting place to be. When we speak more than one language, we can connect with more people and see the world in lots of different ways.
This month, we want everyone to celebrate with us! Let’s share words from our home languages, teach each other about where we come from, and listen to stories from all around the world. Let’s be proud of who we are and support each other as we grow and learn together.
We are learners. We are leaders. We are multilingual—and we are awesome! 🎉

Color Me Impressed: Celebrating Military-Connected Kids with a Splash! 🌈
The Month of the Military Child Color Run, sponsored by the PTA, was a vibrant and joyous event celebrating the resilience and contributions of our military families. Students, staff, and families came together to participate in this fun-filled run, where everyone was splashed with a rainbow of colors, symbolizing the strength and unity of our community. The event not only promoted physical activity and camaraderie but also honored the unique experiences of military children. Thank you to the PTA and all the volunteers who made this event a memorable success!

As we enter allergy season, we want to ensure the health and well-being of all our students. If your child has known allergies or has been newly diagnosed with allergies, please inform the school nurse as soon as possible. This will help us provide the necessary support and care for your child during school hours.
Additionally, we have noticed several cases of pink-eye (conjunctivitis) among students. To prevent the spread of this infection, we kindly ask you to remind your children to wash their hands frequently and avoid touching their eyes.
Here are some tips for managing allergies:
- Avoid allergens: Try to minimize exposure to known allergens, such as pollen, dust, and pet dander.
- Keep windows closed: During high pollen seasons, keep windows closed to prevent allergens from entering your home.
- Use air purifiers: Consider using air purifiers to reduce indoor allergens.
- Wash hands and face: Encourage your child to wash their hands and face after being outside to remove allergens.
- Medications: Ensure your child takes any prescribed allergy medications regularly.
- Clean regularly: Regularly clean and vacuum your home to reduce dust and other allergens.
Reminder: All medications needed at school should be processed through the school nurse. This ensures proper administration and safety for all students.
Our goal is to maintain a safe and healthy community. If you have any questions, please contact me at Bethzaida.matos@dodea.edu. We hope you have a great and safe weekend.
