Clap and Cheer: Military Kids We Hold Dear!
This week, Patch Elementary School proudlyconcluded the Month of the Military Child with a heartwarming "Clap Out" event. Military members and families gathered to cheer and applaud our students during dismissal, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and appreciation. The event was made even more special with lively music, and the sight of purple balloons and pom poms added a festive touch to the celebration. It was a beautiful moment that highlighted the strength and resilience of our military children.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the PTA, especially Colleen Sybor, for their incredible efforts in arranging not only this event but all the activities throughout April to honor our military kids. Your dedication and hard work have truly made a difference in our community, and we are thankful for your unwavering support.

As we enter allergy season, we want to ensure the health and well-being of all our students. If your child has known allergies or has been newly diagnosed with allergies, please inform the school nurse as soon as possible. This will help us provide the necessary support and care for your child during school hours.
Additionally, we have noticed several cases of pink-eye (conjunctivitis) among students. To prevent the spread of this infection, we kindly ask you to remind your children to wash their hands frequently and avoid touching their eyes.
Here are some tips for managing allergies:
- Avoid allergens: Try to minimize exposure to known allergens, such as pollen, dust, and pet dander.
- Keep windows closed: During high pollen seasons, keep windows closed to prevent allergens from entering your home.
- Use air purifiers: Consider using air purifiers to reduce indoor allergens.
- Wash hands and face: Encourage your child to wash their hands and face after being outside to remove allergens.
- Medications: Ensure your child takes any prescribed allergy medications regularly.
- Clean regularly: Regularly clean and vacuum your home to reduce dust and other allergens.
Reminder: All medications needed at school should be processed through the school nurse. This ensures proper administration and safety for all students.
Our goal is to maintain a safe and healthy community. If you have any questions, please contact me at Bethzaida.matos@dodea.edu. We hope you have a great and safe weekend.
