Dear Patch Elementary Families,
We’ve crossed a major milestone: DCAS standardized testing is officially complete! We are incredibly proud of our students for their stamina, focus, and effort throughout the testing period. Their hard work truly reflects the Stallion spirit!
This past week brought one of our most beloved traditions: the Kindy 500! Our kindergarteners “raced” around the school in their custom-designed cardboard cars, cheered on by enthusiastic families and staff. It was a joyful celebration of creativity, community, and early learning.
We also had the honor of recognizing excellence among our upper elementary students. Congratulations to our 5th graders who received the Presidential Awards and to those who earned the Commander’s Awards—your leadership and dedication inspire us all.
Another highlight was our school-wide Disney sing-along! The halls of Patch were filled with music, laughter, and a whole lot of Disney magic as students and staff joined together in song.
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, we want to remind families that valuable instruction is still happening every day. There are many exciting events taking place across grade levels, so please be sure to check in with your child’s teacher for classroom-specific updates.
Finally, a quick reminder: please help your child dress in layers. Mornings are still cool, but afternoons can warm up quickly.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s finish the year strong—Stallion style!
In Service,
Dr. Quinland and Mr. Pieper

Final Applause: Parent Positions for the Big Clap-Out!
Our annual clap-out is on June 10 at 10:45 AM, the last day of school. This year, students will be exiting out of their arrival doors. All students will walk through the corral towards the playground side of the campus, continuing through to the fire lane and up the ramp. Parents should line the fire lane on each side to clap and cheer for students as they leave the 2024-2025 school year behind. If you have any questions, please let us know!

License to Learn: The Kindy 500 Landmark Road Trip
Patch Elementary’s kindergarteners hit the road on Friday - cardboard style! As a culminating project for their social studies unit on American landmarks, students designed and built their very own race cars out of cardboard boxes, transforming into tiny tourists for the much-anticipated Kindy 500. With their handmade vehicles and personalized driver’s licenses in hand, the young learners “drove” through the school hallways on a patriotic road trip, visiting iconic landmarks they had studied in class.
Adding to the excitement, the Patch Middle School Drama Club brought the journey to life by creating six interactive landmark stops, including the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore. At each station, kindergarteners rotated through engaging activities and learned fun facts, just like real tourists on a cross-country adventure. The event was a joyful celebration of creativity, learning, and collaboration!

Honoring Excellence: Presidential and Commander’s Awards Ceremony
Today, Patch Elementary proudly celebrated the achievements of our outstanding students in grades three through five during a special awards ceremony. Fifth graders were honored with the prestigious Presidential Awards, recognizing their academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to service. In addition, third, fourth, and fifth graders received the Commander’s Awards, celebrating their dedication to learning, positive citizenship, and contributions to the school community. These awards reflect not only academic success but also the character and leadership that define our Stallions.
We were honored to welcome distinguished guests to help recognize our students’ accomplishments, including Community Superintendent Ms. Renee Cobb, Colonel G. Kirk Alexander, and Command Sergeant Major Christopher B. Melendez. Their presence made the event even more meaningful, as they shared words of encouragement and pride in our students’ achievements. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of hard work, service, and leadership—values we strive to instill in every Patch student.

What a week of a SUPER SONIC Cash Wars Fundraiser! It was neck-and-neck all week as the grade levels jockeyed for first place. Today at our sing-a-long, Sonic made an appearance to announce the winners of the ice cream truck... FIRST GRADE! Congratulations and enjoy your treat!

As we are coming closer to the end of the school year, I wanted to remind those who have medications in the nurse's office should have them picked up by no later than June 9th. I will not be in the office from June 9th, as it will be my last day in the nurse's office. As a reminder if you did a new medication form this year, it is good for one calendar year. Also, most medications cannot be sent home with the student and parents must pick up the medication. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Bethzaida.matos@dodea.edu. I will be sending out email reminders in the next few weeks as well. Have a great week!
